Health Information Centre
Vitoria-Gasteiz 1989/1990

Since this is the first centre of its kind to be built, we had no available references or models to follow. The future extension of these services to other capitals of the Basque Country set the condition of an image recognizable with few elements, even in diverse situations and spaces.

From the possible geometric relationships, we chose a modulation based on five perfect cubes, four of the transparent, and the central one, containing storage and toilets, translucent. These boxes in steel and sheet glass profoundly occupy the space, allowing visual connection between the spaces, optimum light transmission, and reasonable acoustic insulation.
The artificial lighting, heating, and mechanical ventilation are independently incorporated in each glass piece. The container is completely covered in wood, on floors, walls, and ceilings, to emphasize the duality of the objects/boxes inside the main box.
