Water Works Exhibition Centre
Vitoria-Gasteiz. 1993/1997

In 1869, a public competition to build a water tank on Vitoria's highest point, el Campillo, was organized. Water from this storage tank would be distributed to the entire city and came from a mountain stream on mount Gorbea.

Our part makes up and intermediate phase in the consolidation of this space specialized in exhibitions and public events. What completes this action is the placement of a service entrance and storage spaces, after an adjoining underground park is built.

A separate project also exists parallel to this one. This is the updating of the neighbouring Palace of Montehermoso to be used as a cultural centre. The union of the two buildings under calle Santa María has been proposed, thus creating not only a link between cultural spaces, but also a solution to accessibility problems.

Finalist at the COAVN 1999 (Official Basque and Navarrese College of Architects) Awards, Rehabilitation Category.
