4 Azules Nightclub
Vitoria-Gasteiz 1988/1989

Cuatro Azules is a project based on atmosphere. We tried to find a climate, something to boost night time moods.
The decision to complete the practical totality of the elements that make up the bar was not based on the idea of total design but on the necessity to favour that climate, avoiding high precision industrial products, instead favouring the imperfection of the prototype.
The bar/corridor, with its extensive bars and few seats, welcomes participation and the sharing of all available space. The entrance has large steel doors that remain open when the bar is being used. The narrowness of the entrance and strict regulation led us to think about the need of an entrance foyer, with a second façade where the previously ignored graphic image could be intensely expressed. Glass doors give a glimpse of what is happening in the main area. The extra height given allows the placement of a dynamic element that articulates the entire location and becomes the main motive of the intervention, a set of walkways and stairs that lead to the mezzanine level with its storage areas, and support for light and sound.
