Dwelling in Lasarte-Oria
1996/1998

This is an isolated building in the mountains, on a 10.000 m2 lot, a location of utmost beauty, with an abundant number of trees and magnificent views over Lasarte.
We used the topography of the land to introduce the building, relating it to the surrounding forest of chestnut and oak trees.

It is placed over a small stream bed like a bridge. It has two floors and the lower floor is arranged as a semi-basement, facing south through a natural courtyard. A heavy reinforced concrete platform that the plan lies on has a conventional housing program.
All of the rooms are connected outside by a walkway which is also connected to the forest.
We wanted to accentuate the unitary character of its interior. We placed a double ceiling in small rooms, so that volume could be taken advantage of in its totality.
